Romford Market is changing with a programme of events, new stallholders
and for the first time, a seasonal ice rink is coming to the Market Place.
The rink will operate seven days a week across the festive season with some exceptions over the holidays.
Opening times and Terms and Conditions can be found here.
Pop up events space
To herald the changes taking place on Romford Market, we are working on delivering a programme of exciting events. There will be a large pop up events space that will include a performance and workshop area, a place to eat and relax, as well as a designated street food court immediately outside. We have invited the community, arts and culture and the traders on Romford Market to join us in delivering an Everyday Adventure.
The main attraction over the holiday season is an exciting ice rink with a capacity of 150 people an hour. Your ticket price includes skate hire and you will of course be skating on real ice. Situated under the clock tower on Romford Market, the ice rink is a great place for to visit for all the family and for the inexperienced skater there are penguin aids on a first come, first served basis. So get your skates on and book a ticket and be part of the Everyday Adventure on Romford Market.
From the time of the annual Christmas Light Night in mid-November, the adventure will continue with Princess Elsa and friends coming along to the Frost Fair. There will be a Christmas Calendar promotion with traders and businesses surrounding the market putting on offers and giveaways in December and look out on our social media for details of the Win Christmas Competition, where one lucky family will be getting the best Christmas ever.
Involving the community in the transformation plans for Romford Market will be key to the success of the project and that is why we want to hear from anyone who would like to host a project in the pop-up space from October. We’re open to all ideas and have already had a positive response from the Community Chefs and are planning a Christmas Post Office in the early weeks of December, so get in touch on social media or email.
Small Business Saturday on December 3 is reported as being the busiest shopping day of the year. In the run-up week we shall be hosting a Makers Market to celebrate the legion of makers, bakers, crafters and artisans that have small businesses in Havering. We hope the market will start a new wave of businesses coming onto the market or delivering exciting events here on a regular basis. Applications are online on our website.
Music maketh the market …or something along those lines. Following on from the success of the Romford Street Festival in April, the good folks at Made Public are lending us the moveable stage, Platforms. We want to hear from home grown talent that might want to come along to sing, strum, dance, act, recite or deliver an experience in the pop-up space, or on particularly beautiful days, out in the Market Place.
